Thank you for visiting!

In 1998 Beverley's sixteen year old son taught her the basics of HTML and how to build a web site using Microsoft Front Page and thus Homeschool Australia was born! Beverley quickly realised that the internet was the perfect place to publish her many articles, collected over a decade of writing about her families experiences with home education.

Homeschool Australia is an extensive collection of Beverley's articles and information about home education written over nearly two decades. In them she shares her experience and insights, always wanting to help other families demystify the process of education and make it easier for them to teach their children at home. During this time Beverley battled chronic illnesses that often led to feeling overwhelmed. Her approach to home education is down-to-earth, common sense, child and family friendly.

Homeschool Australia Frequently Asked Questions is a friendly 'on-topic' online support group hosted by Yahoo and moderated by Beverley Paine. You are warmly invited to join and ask any question, no matter how trivial about any aspect of home education!

Homeschool Australia Curriculum is a work in progress. Over the coming years Beverley hopes to compile a comprensive resource for her children to use should they decide to teach their children at home. There are hundreds of pages, including checklists, articles, activities, lesson plans, resources, and links.

Every so often Beverley posts on her Homeschool Australia blog, usually in response to a home education or educational topic in the media: read Beverley's blog at

For over five years Beverley edited and produced the free online (and for a while, print issues) Homeschool Australia Newsletter . Production of the newsletter ceased in July 2008 so that Beverley can concentrate on producing the Home Education Association Inc of Australia newsletter, Resource Directory and Year Book before she and her husband trek around Australia with their campertrailer in 2009.

Since 1997,when Beverley self-published her first book, Getting Started with Homeschooling Practical Considerations, she has been writing and selling books designed to help families build confidence as home educators. After their time travelling and seeing Australia, Beverley and Robin hope to convert Beverley's books into E-books which will be available on her Homeschool Australia site, taking over from their previous online bookstore, Always Learning Books.

Unschool~Kidz! is a celebration of children learning at home and although no longer accepts contributions remains online for home educating families to enjoy. A printed version of the online magazine was made available in 2004. You'll find homeschooled children's writing, artwork and more...

For many years Beverley managed a comprehensive web site for South Australian home educators. The remaining South Australia Home Education Network one page site is there to help families find information about homeschooling in South Australia.

Beverley was always going to be an author - this was one of her earliest ambitions. At the age of 39 she began writing her first fictional story, a science fiction tale set in the not so distant future, an action packed tale of intrigue and conspiracy. Published by Greater Glider in 2002, The Chimaera Conspiracy remains Beverley's only published book, but it definitely isn't the only fictional story she's written. In the years to come she hopes to entice publishers to produce some of her other finished manuscripts!

Since 1988, when Beverley and Robin moved their family to the Southern Fleurieu Pensinula from the Adelaide Hills and purchased four and a half acres over looking the picturesque Bungala Valley, they have been thinking and working permaculturally. Bungala Ridge Permaculture Gardens offers an insight into the other great passion in Beverley's life.

Jacqui's evocative poetry about life, love, living and letting go... Beverley's sister Jacqui was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Although she doesn't profess to be a gardener, just someone who dabbles in growing and propagating plants, Beverley is passionate about her garden, and especially the wonderful world of flowers... wander around Beverley's Flower Garden site.

Yet more beautiful flowers, this time captured by Beverley's camera while on holiday in Tasmania in 2006 - Table Cape Tulip Farm.

photo of Beverley and Robin PainePioneering members of the home education movement in Australia, Beverley and Robin Paine are passionate advocates of true educational choice for families. They began homeschooling their children in 1986 and three years later started the South Australian Home Based Learners network.
Beverley wrote Getting Started with Homeschooling in 1995-97 and since then continues to write books and booklets on home education. She balances spending time helping home educators with working in her garden and renovating her home, as well as continuing to build her collection of writing on a variety of homeschooling subjects. Beverley maintains an extensive collection of websites as well as several Yahoo groups supporting families teaching their children at home. In 2007 Beverley joined the HEA and became a committee member in 2008: for three years she edited and produced the HEA Newsletter, HEA magazine, Stepping Stones for Home Educators, annual Resource Directory and other HEA publications. If you'd like to keep in touch with what Beverley is up to her in her life, sign up for the Homeschool Australia Newsletter or visit her Facebook page.
